About Us
Raffields Centrale is a dream come true for Mimi Kuflik.

Mimi's grandparents moved to Knowlton from Montreal shortly after they married in the 40s. Her grandfather Fred Raphael, was a gentleman farmer who took to life in the Townships immediately. His wife Phyllis was a character. A feisty young Montrealer with a sharp tongue and a love of laughter. The Raphaels, pronounced "Raffields" by their wonderful new Knowlton friends, purchased the charming stone farmhouse on Knowlton road and put down roots. Their daughter Ann was born a few years later. Although Fred died when Phyllis was only 40, she never moved. Knowlton had become her cherished home.

Almost 50 years after Phyllis' arrival her youngest grandchild, Mimi, made her way to the Townships from Montreal to attend school. Like her grandmother before her, the town perched on Brome Lake left an indelible mark on her heart.

When a property became available on Knowlton road just down the street from her grandparents' original home, Mimi knew it was a sign. Mimi, a talented caterer and entertainer, saw a chance to create a gathering place. And what better name for that store than that of her beloved grandparents, and Raffields was born.

We hope that Raffields becomes your place and connection with Knowlton. A place to meet friends, to stop for a drink on a hot day, to pick up your lunch and something to take home for dinner. Home made and locally sourced baked goods, soups/salads/sandwiches, and produce on the menu each day. Mimi’s love of fresh and vibrant condiments will be an integral part of the take out experience. Whether a zingy Chimichurri , a spicy avocado salsa or a vegan Thai Basil dressing there will always be something to awaken your dinner.

There will be racks for your bicycle, and water on the patio for well-behaved dogs. Whether it is a coffee and breakfast sandwich to get your day going, or a 5 à 7 with a friend on the patio, Raffields is your spot in Knowlton. Come in and say hello!
